Director Rian Johnson Has Known The Title Of Star Wars Episode 8 For All Time

If you didn’t know already Star Wars Episode VII comes out this year (YAY!), but so far we know jack shit about this next instalment of the saga.

Fans have been begging Disney and Lucasfilm to even them something, anything, like a quick teaser or hell just the official title of the film.

Some people even thought a title hasn’t been decided yet, it turns out that’s not the case and the official title was decided a long time ago.

Director Rian Johnson has revealed to USA Today that not only does he know the film will be called, but has done for ages now.

This evil bastard (I mean that with tongue in cheek) jokingly told USA Today “It was in the very first draft I wrote, I’ll just blurt it out right now.

“All in good time, my friend.”

Johnson then went on to imply he will be focus more on the fun side of the series rather than darker episodes like Empire Strikes Back (not forgetting Rogue One could be even darker then Empire) adding “I want it to be a blast and to be funny and to be a ride the way The Force Awakens and the original Star Wars were.”

Not going to lie, I’m a little disappointed to hear this, but I do think it’ll be darker than what Johnson is letting on and will have that Empire, maybe even Rogue One, feel.

People are wanting a title because previously Disney announced the JJ Abram’s retuning instalment, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, in November 2014 – more than over a year before the film came out. Now with Episode 8 arriving in December of this year, it’s defiantly Lucasfilm and Disney deciding to hold out as long as possible.

I expect not to be waiting too much longer, I think we’ll be getting not only a title but a teaser trailer for Episode 8 at Star Wars Celebration in April to coincide to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Star Wars: A New Hope.

Despite the lack of knowledge and info, it hasn’t stopped people from guessing or rumours spreading the name of the title and these include ‘Tale of the Jedi’, ‘The Order of the Dark Side’, ‘Echoes of the Dark Side’ and ‘Forces of Destiny’. Honestly, these are all awful.

The only thing we do know is we’ll see Rey and Luke start of where we left them in The Force Awakens.

Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o and the late Carrie Fisher will all be reprising their roles for the series alongside newcomers Benicio del Toro, Kelly Maire Tran and Laura Dern.

Star Wars: Episode 8 will be coming out 15th December.
